Dear Sir/Madam,
I am pleased to send you today the brochure"Communicating EU Research & Innovation - A guide for project participants",which has recently been published by the European Commission.
Its objective is to offer you a tool to better communicate about your project(s) and your achieved results. In your role as coordinator or participant of one or more projects under the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development you will be aware of the obligation to disseminate project outcomes.
With a little creativity your strategic communication efforts can help to show how project outcomes are relevant to our everyday lives and how European collaboration has achieved more than would have been otherwise possible. Furthermore, good communication will help you to publicise your project's work in such a way that you will benefit: through new (business) opportunities, a larger network or increased awareness about your work.
This short guide gives you some examples of successful communication activities, offers a word of warning about commercial organisations seeking to sell their dissemination services and provides an elaborate checklist to help you develop a sound strategy for communication about your work. Moreover it informs you about legal requirements and expectations starting at the negotiation phase right up to the end of the project and how we, at the European Commission, can help you increase your outreach, for example by publicising your events and results via our websites.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that you are warmly invited to inform your Project Officer about events and research outcomes relating to your project and remain at your disposal for any questions about the brochure via RTD-PUBLICATIONS@ec.europa.eu.
